~ Warped Tour ~

16 July 1999

yeah!! i went to the Warped Tour today with the Bolt Staff…. isn’t fun? the company paid the ticket, and all we had to do was distributing stickers and beach balls! that’s a very good deal!

besides the deal, the journey to Randall Island (where the concert was located) was quite an adventure. most of the staff took off around 1 in the afternoon to join the concert. we were supposed to leave at noon, but of course, no one can finish their stuff on time. including me. so, i was glad that they decided to leave at 1:30.

around 1:30, i waited downstairs with Hafeez, Ari, Hong, Peter, Myke and a couple other people i don’t remember… while waiting for Lissa and Jane, we start putting some sun block, getting ready for heavy sun exposure… it was hella hot that day! finally at 2:15, Jane and Lissa were done… Dan, Nancy and everyone else are already downstairs too.

when we’re about to leave, Lissa just realized that she forgot her ID upstairs… ugh! after getting ready for almost an hour, she still forgot her ID?! geez! so we left without her….

we were supossed to go take E train to go crosstown, then take 6 train on 51st Street, and stop at Lexington and 125th to take a bus that go straight to Randall Stadium. But nooo….. we agreed to go Dan’s way… which is taking C uptown, and go crosstown with bus… (doh! bus stops more often than train, and the AC sucks!).

there goes an hour…. we got to Randall Stadium 3:30, didn’t expect the place to be that hot and dry. the concert is in the middle of an open field, where the grass is no longer grass… it has become hay. so dry. so hot. i wish i was naked….

there were more dust than grass. i guess, it makes the mosh pit more fun! :-)

Blink 182 was playing… wheee!! and i was very surprised when Suicidal Tendencies played… gee! they has been playing since i was in junior high! and it was about 10-12 years ago… i even had their shirt. well, i was into this punk stuff… hehehe…

so, i started blowing up the beach balls and throw them into the pit while watching the concert… 10 balls…. 20 balls… almost 30 balls, and i started to feel sick… very sick… i don’t think 105 degrees weather, a field full of dust and blowing 30 beach balls go together in this scene….

when i left the concert, i was totally covered with dirt. when i pulled up my sleeves, i can see that my skin behind the sleeves are a lot lighter than the rest…. and it’s not sunburn. it’s dirt! it got more disgusting as i blow my nose…. it’s all dark brown color…. ewww!

but i had a lot of fun. i don’t go to concert that much lately, anyway…. so it was a good treat for me..
