~ DIY play-stove for aina ~

the girl in her kitchen

this project took much longer than we thought it would be. we started making this some time in October, i think. between work, rainy days and laziness, we finally finished it last month.

it’s basically made out of lots of IKEA products… hehe: an Rast bedside table, a slab of wooden shelf, Attest handle for the oven handle, and Lindsdal drawer knobs for stove dials. there is also a small piece of acrylic glass from Art Friend for the oven window and a piece of cork paper (well, very thick cork paper) that i got from Daisho a looooong time ago.

oh, and a few nails, hinge, putty, white paint from Variware, a nearby shop that has everything!

all we did was just adding the partition, putting a little shelf on the right part, and making the oven. we didn’t put any backing on the stove because we’re planning to put it against the wall. and with the open back, it should be easier to clean.

and we’re glad that aina actually likes it. she’s been playing with it everyday. by now, the counter top is pretty dirty with pieces of play-doh.

ps: there is a more detailed explanation on how to make this on The Urban Mama article that i wrote.
