~ crocheted skirt ~
i finished the skirt this morning. yep, it’s not turning into a bag. this is the first time i make a skirt… i’d say it’s not bad for the first try. i’m pretty happy with how it turned out. and it sorta make my big butt look a little smaller. ha ha.
i probably need to put a lining under the skirt, since it’s kinda holey. but that can wait. i’m also thinking of making small pompoms to put at the end of the drawstring. but that can also wait.
by the way, this skirt is based on a pattern i found in a Japanese crochet magazine that i owned. i modify the hip and waist part. the original pattern was a long skirt and is not tapering on the waist. my butt is too big to wear something cylindrical like that. so i had to taper the skirt to fit myself.
now, on to the next project: finishing up the abandoned Blue Bag.

Cannot trade because I don’t have a pattern. hehe. I sorta learnt the basic in high school and now decided to take it serious. I tried reading some books on basic instructions but the instruction was awfully stupid. So now it’s trial & error for me :-(
exactly two weeks, on and off, though. i spent most of the time making the granny squares. those little things took me forever! once that’s done, the rest only took about 2 days to finish.
Congrats Thal, it is your first yet it looks nice, the color is soft and the crochet is also evenly pulled. I don;t know that you have learnt so quickly.
hehe, thanks, ma. well, it’s not really my first crochet piece. it’s the first skirt, but i’ve done a few bags and hats before.
my very first piece was done when i was in the 3rd grade of elementary school, and it was small, red, messy and rectangle in shape… haha.
keren bgt thal! do you need to know how to sew in order to learn to taper the skirt? i can’t believe this is your first skirt! you’re just like a pro.
i need to make a trip to the yarn store to get more colors. most yarns i have are to fat or to hairy (eyelash). and also…kinokuniya to look at the crochet mag. i started to love crochet! for me, it’s a bit easier to understand than knitting. the hook is light too. i can carry it on the bus.
i believe you don’t really need to know how to sew… i don’t. i can’t sew anything but handkerchief… but i’m planning to learn how. hopefully soon.
i like crochet more than knitting for the same reasons. for me, it’s easier to measure and improvise on crochet than knitting. i always ended up making things too large when i knit. maybe i just haven’t practised enough knitting… hehe.
thal, how did u make the little squares if u don’t mind telling me? not the big squares with flowers. i’ve made 15 granny squares with the intention of making a throw. now i’m bored. but perhaps i could still use them for the border.
ooh, i really suck at writing pattern… but lemme give a try:
row 1: use color 1 - 3 tc, *1ch, 3tc on the second chain from the last tc (it will make a hole of one chain)*, repeat * (until necessary), 1ch, ends.
row 2: use color 2 - starting on the 1ch on the previous row make 1sc, *3ch, 1sc on the chain of the previous row*… etc.
kira2 gitu deh. kalo bingung, bilangin ya… lbh gampang kalo gambar patternnya… hehe.

ngga gatel sih, tapi agak gerah. padahal bahannya udah cotton (+ acrylic) lho, bukan wool. kayaknya mo gue bikinin lining yang dingin.
