~ 20k morning run to Marina Bay ~

long run 7/11

this is the long run that i’ve been waiting for. it’s 19-20km, and it’s long enough for me to go all the way around Marina Bay… i’ve always wanted to see Marina Bay in the early morning. i wish i could be there during sunrise, but i still need to avoid the sun due to the skin damage from my shingles.

just like the other day, i ran past orchard. orchard road has such huuuuuge sidewalks, it’s heaven for running. flat and long.

as usual, there were a lot of people in front of Orchard Tower, drunk and all, with lines of taxis waiting for passengers. but afterwards, orchard road was almost empty…

but of course the highlight of the run was the bay itself. it was soooo quiet.

the helix bridge was completely empty.

the weird thing is, there were soooo many people sleeping outdoors. once i hit the city area (around city hall), benches on the side of the streets were occupied by sleeping people. and when i crossed Nicoll Highway by the underpass, there were people sleeping in the underpass.

who are these people? some were carrying duffel bags, some carry nothing. i even managed to trip on one of their bags when passing through the benches at the marina.

still, the view was beautiful and made my running feel effortless. so, beautiful views make running easier :)

Nice pictures, good experiences, but I just know that there are people sleeping outside.

i didn’t know either, until i saw it myself… i’ve always thought singapore has no such things. but the whole time i was running, i think i’ve met about 20-30 people sleeping on the sidewalk/underground paths. that was a lot!
