~ circle line MRT open house ~

02 October 2011

circle line :)

finally, after years and years of waiting, the MRT Circle Line Holland Village station will be open next week. and today, they’re having an open house party in all station. this means, lots of music, shows and stuff in all the stations… and free rides!

you see, the station is located around 50 meters away from my house gate. sooo close! so convenient… although this also means, that we may not be able to afford the rent next year, since JTC has been jacking up the rent almost every year…

anyways, it was quite amazing to see the station. we kept telling aina that this whole thing is below our house. and all the noise and construction we’ve been seeing ever since we moved to Holland Village result in to this: a big shinny compartment underground. wow.

we planned to visit as many stations as possible and see what’s going on in there. but upon seeing how crowded and noisy Holland Village station was (there were a band playing and the lines to go into the station was looooooong), we decided to skip the plan and just go straight to Harbour Front Station and had lunch at Vivo City.

but of course, there are thousands of other people thinking the same way… the MRT ride was free from 10am to 6pm. so everyone went to Vivo City. the mall was packed.

but we were too hungry to change plan again. so we had our lunch at the Food Republic and walked around the roof.

aina had a great time riding the wheeled horse. she’s been wanting to ride that horse since she was around 2 years old, and today, she’s finally tall enough and strong enough to make the horse move. that thing is not an easy ride…

after doing some shopping, we rode the train back home, 15 minutes before 6pm. so we actually took the last train for the day… and we finally could see the less-crowded version of Holland Village MRT.

and then, as soon as we got out of the station, they turn the escalators off and close the rolling cage.

and there are tons of people sitting around outside of the station. Holland Village is even more crowded than it’s usual weekends. it makes me wonder how much the MRT station will change the neighborhood. while i was eating at the Vivo City kopitiam, i overheard 2 to 3 tables talking about Holland Village and how easy it is now to get there.

and when we got off the elevator in Holland Village station, we overheard two families with strollers talking about where they’re from. and one of them are from Woodlands. wow, that’s pretty far!

i guess, if it is convenient for me to go out of Holland Village and arrive in other places, the MRT makes it easier for everyone around the island to get to Hollang Village too…
