full bed

this is how the bed looked like this morning. both koda and aina, who are sick, had to sleep in our bed. why is it that koda and aina have been falling sick at the same time lately?

a few months ago, koda caught somekind of contagious coughing virus that landed her 10 huge antibiotics to swallow. that night, aina got fever that went up all the way to 40+°C for 3 nights straight, that we had to go to emergency room.

last night, aina caught a light fever after she got rained on during our way back from the Botanic Gardens picnic. she’s fine, so far…

koda, on the other hand, had worse luck. her feet turned out to be too, ehm, delicate to keep up with my (almost) daily run at night… you see, i’ve been resuming my runs during weekdays, and these days, koda tags along. she’s been happy going running with me… and i’m happy because not only do i get a running buddy (ari doesn’t run), but also koda gets some exercise too. healthy me, healthy koda. or so i thought.

yesterday, we went to the Botanic Gardens by bike with koda. on our way back, she treaded along really slowy. at one point, she even refused to walk.

then, once we got home, we found out that the bottom of all 4 of her feet were bleeding!! there were huge blisters, and it was really bad on her front paws. the skin had peeled off completely leaving her flesh exposed. poor girl :(

so, koda couldn’t walk properly. she can’t even stand up well, her legs are always shaking whenever she stands up or she’s in a sitting position. she spends her days laying down.

she prefers to sleep upstairs in our room, on our bed. but since her food and drink bowls are downstairs, she hasn’t been eating and drinking properly. in fact, she’s been rather picky with her food. she only wants to eat her pellets if only there were raw eggs on top… hehe, i guess, she knows she gets special treatments when she’s sick.

Awww poor Aina and poor Koda. This happened to Libby as well when she used to run with Jason, although we caught it at the blister stage, so we put on Mukluk boots on her until the blisters were gone. Hope both your babies recover soon!

Ooooh, poor Koda!
Does she always run on hard streets instead of normal (earth or grass) ground? Dog paws are not made for this… :-(

yes, she does. we run on sidewalk here. she used to be fine 2 years ago, when i ran 6km daily… but i guess, since we haven’t run that much for the last 2 years, her paws soften by a lot… should’ve trained the paws first before doing it daily.
