intermezzo on the way to Clarke Quay

ever since Thyme (my new bike, which i still owe an introduction) arrived, we’ve been wanting to do longer rides and try new routes. so this afternoon, we went to Clarke Quay via the Park Connector behind Queensway. the park connector was soooo nice! there is a small skate park and several outdoor gym things and playgrounds along the way. one of the playgrounds even has a trampoline (thus the picture above)! unfortunately, the Alexandra Park Connector was still under construction, and the detour was slightly confusing.

we finally arrived at Clarke quay in a little longer than an hour, and met up with Shinta, Ario & Naia to pick up a big bag of pempek from Anthie (thank you so much, dearie!).

we spent the afternoon at Central. and as soon as we decided to ride back home, it started to drizzle. so we stopped at Brewerkz to get dinner while waiting for the rain to stop. maybe it was a bad move, because the rain didn’t stop. in fact it got harder as the night came.

after seeking shelter in bus stops and HBD awnings along the way, we arrived at home around 10 in the evening, completely soaked… the rain has turned into a thunderstorm by then and it was crazy fun to ride in such weather. i was worried that aina would get cold and become sick (she was sitting on the child seat of my bike), but she was laughing and screaming, “WHEEEE! FUUUUUUUNNNN!” the whole time. she had a great time indeed.

we went straight for a hot shower as soon as we got home. ari made hot cocoa for us after the shower. and we wiped the drenched bikes before we went to bed.

tired, wet, but super fun… i sure hope we don’t fall sick for riding in the rain that long without raincoats, tho :)
