mister maker workshop

did you know that Mister Maker guy on TV? he came to visit Singapore and conducted a small workshop arts & craft in Paragon last Saturday. aina, who loves Mister Maker, really wanted to meet her “hero”. so that weekend, the whole family — including aina’s grandma — came along to see him.

the saturday workshop was on every hour from 12pm to 5pm. we were supposed to register online to reserve a seat, but we didn’t. thank goodness, they also allow people to sign up for on-the-spot waiting list.

we got there around 4 o’clock and watched the workshop being conducted. aina, who’s always hesitant when in comes to dealing with strangers and loud noises, looked rather excited. she immediately recognized the craft activity, as she has seen it on TV. although she said that she’s a bit scared of the loud noises and screams from other kids, aina said she wanted to join the workshop and work on the craft. so, we put her name and our phone number down on the waiting list for the 5 o’clock workshop. if the space available, they would give us a call to let us know.

as the time getting closer to 5 o’clock, aina started to hesitate… she started to chickened out! for 10 minutes, all of us trying to convince her to change her mind. then the phone rang, telling us that there is a space available for aina… and aina was still shaking her head and saying no.

finally, it seemed that convincing method won’t work, so we just took her to get the name tag, and put her on the workshop table. we told her to choose the seat with pink hairband with pink stringy thing. i held her hand and kept telling her she’ll love it and i’ll be right behind her if she wants to quit.

surprisingly, she stayed. in fact, she had a great time! once she sat on that chair, she didn’t even mind me moving further away in front of her to take pictures and videos. here is the video of the whole workshop.

she was happy and enjoyed the whole process. and she came out having her picture taken with Mister Maker and a pink bag full of goodies… and of course, wearing a pair of hand-made Googly Eyes :)

aw, thank you, anna! she had watched the previous workshop, so she sorta knew what to do… but, true, she kept cleaning things up and arranging things during the craft session :P
