~ 300 ~

09 March 2007

yesterday, we went to see 300 in theater with Bond and Nia. it’s a movie based on a comic book by Frank Miller.

i guess, it’s a kind of movie you either love it or hate it. i can see some people thoroughly enjoying the movie and loving it. i can also see that some people think it’s a load of crap.

unfortunately, i’m on the later bunch. i haven’t read the graphic novel, which supposedly, portrayed very close in the movie. the movie itself feels like comic. i usually like movies that looks like comic, but on this one, i think the story doesn’t hold up and the movie focused too much on how it looks than how it flows.

for the good parts, the movie is beautiful. it seems that every frame of it can be frozen in time and will be an amazing poster. the second good point is that the action is fast with great fight choreography, which i enjoyed.

but that’s about it.

i started to fall asleep in the middle of the movie, despite that i was watching hundreds of topless well-built men screaming, yelling and decapitating other topless well-built men. i guess beautiful shots, fast action and topless men doesn’t hold up much against lame storyline and cheesy dialog… on top of that, all the characters are very one-dimensional. i also find the movie very condescending and offensive.

in my opinion, if you’ve seen the trailer, you’ve seen the whole movie.

oh dear. I was hoping it would not be all gore. Oh well, my ticket is booked, so I’ll just sit in and see for myself what the fuss is all about. ;)

don’t worry about it. a friend that went with us was totally into the movie. he thinks he’s one of the best movies of all times. so, you may end up enjoy it :)

I’ve watched it! it’s alright, loved Gerard Butler though good actor. Every stills from the movie can be made into a wallpaper, that’s for sure! The plot is linear, you know what’s going to happen, but Leonidas made it all look worthwhile. The fight scenes were gripping! (or dripping, I should say!)

Humm… is it that bad Thal? :) Dibandingin dengan LOTR jauh dong ya?

Emang sih kalo ngeliat trailernya berat ke visualisasi sih karena denger2 juga the whole environment dibuat pake CG ya?

Ah, nonton Heroes aja deh kalo gitu… :)

tergantung orang, kali ya? kalo gue bilang sih, ama LOTR ga ada bandingannya. menurut gue sih, kayak nonton Final Fantasy movie yang dulu itu… efeknya keren. gambarnya keren. IMHO, ceritanya bapuk (hihihi) and didn’t hold at all. jadi gue terbosen2 dan terngantuk2.

well, i am about to watch it soon (probably this saturday). i enjoy the graphic novel - visually. the story is well, it’s a dramatization of an historical event… so not quite original and i am a bitch about historical fact hehehe.

anyway, i’ll be watching the movie soon, so i let you know how i think after i watched it.

yes, please do. because it seems that most of the people who love the movie are those who have read the book.
