expiration date 

koda and i are 30 years apart. today, koda is turning 1 year old, while i am turning 31 ( *gasps*… i’m old…). we took turn in celebrating our birthdays — koda’s birthday was celebrated in the afternoon, while mine was in the evening.

ari and i went shopping for koda’s presents. we bought her new collar, since she chewed the old one to pieces. same thing for a chewing toy. her old one, which we bought 2 days after we got her, was in pieces. other than the stuff shown in the right, we also got her new brands of canned food. she looooves canned food. on top of the food, we put a small candle (which was a pain in the butt to find… i don’t get it… the nearest grocery store sells all kinds of party equipment, but birthday candles…):

isn’t she cute? it took us a while to take this picture, and Koda is patiently lay down in front of her bowl, staring at her food, drooling profusely.

she was very happy when we let her eat the food. after her early dinner and her usual bathroom trip, we gave her the chewing toy… she’s been eyeing this toy since i took the top picture. she knew that i will eventually give that to her. so, when i finally did, she immediately took it and played with it for a good half an hour. ari and i are pretty happy that she didn’t try to destroy it right there.

later that evening, ari and i went to our favorite Japanese-European restaurant called Ma Maison. the restaurant is usually quite full during weekends, so ari had reserved seats for the two of us.

we had some escargot for appetizers:

ari had Beef Stroganoff with rice. similar to Omurice, except the rice isn’t fried rice and it is not wrapped inside the egg.

i, of course, had my favorite dish: Spaghetti Mentaiko.

after the main course, we still have a little space left for desert. ari had the cheese cake:

and i had their creme brulee… which i’ve tried to order a few times prior tonight, but always ran out. lucky me, this time, they still have it available.

how fun! i told ari that we should have this kind of dinner more often. complete meal course with wine… hehehe.

so, it’s a happy day today. koda was happy for all her presents and treats. i was happy with all those meals. and ari was happy for doing all these things. yay!

now…my birthday resolution: stop smoking! wish me luck!
