~ medical day ~

23 October 2002

it’s doctor day for me. i had 9am appointment with my dentist this morning. it’s for regular check up and cleaning my teeth. she still grumbled about the existence of my tongue pierce. six months a go, i promised i would take it out. it turns out that i can’t take it out. the ball does not want to come off. i tried, ari tried, and it’s still holding on. i need to visit a piercing place… since they can put it in, maybe they can get it out, too.

anyways, my dentist suggested i should get all my wisdom teeth removed before i go back to indonesia. so, that’s my second doctor appointment: oral surgeon. she called him, he was available immediately. in 20 minutes i was x-ray-ed and sat on another dental chair thing. he was a hardcore skier. he said that 2 of my wisdom teeth are infections waiting to happen and needs to get ‘em out ASAP (yikes!). he gave me this full-illustrated booklet about wisdom teeth to get me prepared for operation. so i scheduled another appointment in early november for all four… might as well get over it, right?

at 4pm, ari had his dental appointment with the same dentist. he had another nasty root canal. with his mouth all numb, he went to Jamaica to meet up with me at another doctor appointment: bebe the bunny needed to go to a vet for check up. i think New Yorkers like having little furry animals in the subways with them. they turned very friendly and ask me questions about the rabbit. bebe was a little stressed out and nervous from all the noises on subway station, though… he remained stressed and shedding a lot of fur during the examination. by the time we’re done, the room was full of flying fur… but the vet said bebe is “in a good shape for an old rabbit”. yay!

i’m going to have an inflated medical bill by the end of november.

I have to get my wisdom teeth (three of them) pulled too, though I have to wait until January. I hear people babble all kinds of nonsense once they come to after the surgery. I sure hope I don’t say anything too strange or embarrassing!

Glad to hear Bebe is in good health. With such a cute rabbit, I can see why he gets so much attention. :-)

oww, i’m sure i’d be babbling all kinds of stuff while i’m drugged out. ari is picking me up, so it will ari, the doctor and a few nurses, who i hopefully never see again, know my deepest darkest secret ;)

I’d rather dig my heart out with a rusty spoon than ditch any piercing of mine. You shouldn’t put up with that kind of shit from your dentist. I wouldn’t.

It’s actually not that bad to get your wisdom teeth out. I can honestly say it was only uncomfortable and I got all 4 out at the same time.
